Cenex® Premium Diesel Additives

Cenex® Premium Diesel has a more complete additive package for a more complete burn. Every gallon contains a tailored blend of seven additives that are terminally injected to ensure the highest standards of quality and performance.

As the final part of the Cenex Premium Diesel education series that kicked off in September, we will review the final three terminally blended additives that are found in Cenex premium diesel fuels, today we will focus on storage stabilizer, cetane improver and corrosion inhibitor.

Storage Stabilizer

For those who store large quantities of fuel for long periods of time, storage stabilizers are especially important. It works by forming a coating to prevent oxidation (a fuel’s process of breaking down), which help extend the life of the fuel. It also reduces gum and varnish buildup, helps protect the fuel with extreme changes in outdoor air temperature and increases injector life by optimizing combustibility.

Cetane Improver

Cetane measures a fuel’s ignition delay — or how quickly the air and fuel mixture combust in your engine. Cenex premium diesel has higher cetane content, which means a shorter delay and better ignition quality that lead to faster start-ups and reduced wear on the battery and starter. Not to mention, less pollution. Cenex premium diesel fuels have a typical cetane number of 47-49.

Corrosion Inhibitors

Corrosion inhibitors provide superior corrosion protection, preventing the formation of rust on metal parts. This slows the natural degradation of diesel fuel caused by exposure to oxygen and prevents leaks, blockages and breaks that can be caused by corrosion.

Cenex premium diesel provides a more complete burn to keep fuel and exhaust systems clean, increasing power and efficiency with less repairs or down time. Learn more about the complete additive package.
